Turn Found Treasures Into Second Chances!

At Kindred and Coal, our mission isn’t just about rescue; it’s about reshaping the future of animal advocacy through art, community, and innovation. We practice a visionary, behaviour-science-based approach to adoption where the dog has a true say and choice in which family they want to join, ensuring lasting matches built on mutual trust.

To bring these incredible, soulful journeys to life, we are building a Creative Collective right here in Toronto’s West End; a community already celebrated for its storytelling personality. We are merging art with advocacy, and these four initial projects are just the start of a wonderful, long-term relationship we want to build with local artists and makers.

We are completely flexible on how we work together! Whether you want to split the final sale proceeds, partner on a limited-edition capsule collection, or donate your skills and time to the cause; we want to co-create with you.

We are officially inviting local creators to launch our Creative Collective with four debut projects:

• Project 1: The Abalone Collection (Bohemian Artisan Call)

• Project 2: The Textile Transformation (Guna Mola Art)

• Project 3: Reinterpreting Statement Boots (The Bohemian Edit)

• Project 4: The Bohemian Bag Series

Sneak Peek: A Live West End Art Show & Auction!

To celebrate these collaborations, we are looking at various options in the West End to host a live art show and charity auction event to showcase these finished pieces—including a live auction for the creations. When people support our Creative Collective, they aren’t just buying art; they are actively funding a pioneering, life-saving mission that changes how we understand and rescue dogs.

Project Scope, Timeline & Showcase

Creation Window: Selected artists will have 6 to 8 weeks from material pickup/delivery to complete their finished pieces.

The Collection Split:

• The Abalone Collection: Because of the multiple lots available, finished abalone pieces will be thoughtfully split between our live West End art show and live auction event, and our online Charity Etsy Shop and website.

• The One-Offs (Boots, Bags, & Mola Art): Because items like our statement boots, bohemian bags, and Guna Mola fabric are rare, single-edition pieces, these finished works will be exclusively featured and auctioned live at our West End event

Selection Process & Criteria

To ensure every piece is handled with the utmost respect, artistry, and vision; especially for rare, single-edition statements like the Guna Mola fabric, all applications go through a careful curation review.

Selection Criteria

• Aesthetic Alignment: We look for creators whose existing style naturally bridges raw, earthy textures, vintage character, and a vibrant bohemian spirit.

• Respect for the Medium: For unique items like the red and lavender boots, bags, and the Mola textile, we review portfolios to ensure artists have specific experience working thoughtfully with vintage, repurposed, or delicate statement materials.

• Collaborative Curation: Final artist selections and project assignments—particularly matching creators to our one-off showstoppers versus the abalone shell lots—are curated in partnership with our local creative team to ensure a stunning, cohesive collection.
